About 4 years ago I sold a 70 SS conv. to this guy. It was just a shell of a car. Needed so much work & I just did'nt have the time or $$ . Well out of the blue this morning he called me & asked me if I wanted to see it because it was finished. It looks fantastic. 396/4spd. I'm jelous now!!

Took him about 4years to complete it. Should have seen it when I sold it to him, it was a solid car but had no parts. (just a body on a frame.) The only thing that I notice is that the mirrors are not correct for a 70. They should be chrome. I think they changed to this style in 71 or 2. If you look close at the tops of the front fenders, you will see a little chrome thing on each fender. These are the fiber-optics that run to the lights to show that they are working. There is another one that goes on the top of the back seat for the rear lights. It was a rare optoin an a Chevelle. He also has an origional AM/FM 8-track installed. Most of you'all don't remember 8-tracks, but being old like I am, I wore out my share of them! My 70 SS that I restored looked almost identical to this one except it was a hardtop. Sure made me miss it when he brought that ragtop over!

Sometimes if you had a worn out tape you would have to stick a book of matches or something in there to make the tape play right. The craziest thing about 8-tracks is how it would switch tracks in the middle of a song! Heres another pic.

Alex:
No, the one in the pic's that I sent you were of my 70 hardtop. It was almost identical to the convertable above though (except for the drop top) The convertable was one of those projects that never got off the ground. So I sold it & it took him 4 years to finish it.

That's a very nice car. How often do you see one of those these days? Ahh, the 8-track, the music player you loved to hate. Everyone that had an 8-track can remember the dreaded sound of the player eating the tape. "OH NO! IT'S EATING MY FAVORITE TAPE!!!" Then pulling the tape cassette out and having a trail of tape coming out of the cassette going back up into the player where the player was eating the tape. What great memories. I still have some 8-track tapes including a box of quad 8-track tapes. I also still have a 4-track player and one 4-track tape (don't know if the player or tape works anymore). My 69 Corvette still has a working quadraphonic 8-track player in it.

I wish I had a better picture for you guys. I don't have a scanner, and I had to take a picture of a picture just to get this one on my computer. Anyway, this is a pic of my 67 SS 396 Chevelle. ;D It was NICE! That was about 10 years ago. I miss those days. Raymond

Nice looking Chevelle Raymond! Having owned several SS Chevelles in the past, I will always have a soft spot for them. I just wish that we could have back all the cars that we have traded off in the past.
