My car is missing pretty bad in lower rpms but runs fine once its up to about 2700 rpms. When im cruising at about 60 in high gear, it will stumble and kinda shake for a few seconds, then surge forward like nothings wrong, then start missin again. It will keep doing this over and over. It doesnt do it as bad tho after I've driven it for about 30 mins. And when I get on it, it runs great. I just replaced the optispark about a month ago so i dont think that would be the problem. I had my transmission rebuilt last week and my engine and trans. seals replaced, and the problem has been here since then. Could the shop have knocked something loose or something when puttin it back in? I checked to make sure the plug wires were on too. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is your check engine light on?

no, check engine light isnt on. Im not sure what the ignition module is, how much is it, and where should i get it from. Is there a way to test it and see if its bad.

you cant really check it if its and intermitant problem. but ive had enough modules go out and your car has the symptoms. i think they are like $75 from a dealer. they could have gone up tho. dont get one from anyone but GM.

Kinda sounds like a coil breaking down at low rpms. Have you replace the coil?

I havent replaced the coil. Its weird, because it doesnt do it every time its in low rpms, just most of the time. And if I hold it there where its sputtering, after a few seconds it will come to life for a few seconds, then start missing again.

thats how every module in every car ive ever seen act when they were bad. the coils ive seen take a $hit cause problems at high rpm, or it just stops running.

Thanks for the help, I've spent quite a bit on the car in the past few months and I didnt want to just buy parts to try em out without having an idea. Is that ignition module, the same thing that some people replace with an LT4 knock module, or is that something completely different. I dont know much about the electronics on these cars.

the ignition module is by the coil on lt1 cars. most cars with single coils and distributors have them.
