So i got into a little scuff with my car a couple weeks ago and banged/scratched it up enough for my insurance company to pay for a complete paintjob. So im having it resprayed in my factory mystic teal paint color and possibly some "extras" I was thinking along the lines of some ghost stripes done with this brand new pearl color called 'Crystal Silver Pearl'. And then do all the badges in the same stuff. Im waiting for the painter to make me a sample showing this pearl over my paint, but it is supposed to give a bright silver flash at the correct viewing angle and then go transparent enough that it wont discolour the hue of the paint underneath. I cant make up my mind, I was wanting to do two stripes down the car, but that may cause some issues with my factory "Firebird" style hood. The single stripe down the middle looks good on most cars, but I thought that it was more of a '94 model year thing only. Anyone have pics of stripes painted on my style hood and the back of the car... I cant find any good examples of the stripe styles to show the painter.

do blackbird style stipes (if you have a ram air hood) or 25th/30th anniversary stripes.

I think ive settled at doing 2 stripes that somewhat follow the lines of my factory (non-ram air) hood. Then continue across the rear wing and decklid... So there wont be anything on the roof (t-tops) or front/rear bumpers... And they will be a ghosted paint (pearl-clear). Not exactly sure, but if anyone in FL has a cowl hood for sale, I might change the whole deal to an aniversary style single stripe.

They've got my car all sanded up, the new parts are getting prepped, and they should probably have it painted by the end of next week. I cant wait to have her back, I miss my baby sooo much! Im gonna do two stripes following the contours of my Firebird style stock hood, painted in the new pearl by DuPont called Crystal Silver Pearl. Should give a nice transparent ghost affect that shows bright silver in the right light and viewing angle.

Well, were gonna hold off on the ghosted stripes for a few weeks... Just untill the shops not so busy and they can take more time to make sure its right. Were still waiting on a fender, but everything is slowly getting done. Once the fender shows, the parts will be painted and installed on the car.

Still waiting on my fender!!! Its on backorder with no clue as to when it will show.... I am doing all the silver stickers I had on my car again, but this time they'll be under the clear. As for the vinyl, its a kit from autografics.com that includes: Trans Am door overlays, nose bird inlay, rear "Pontiac" inlay, and the overlays for the bird and "Trans Am" script on the tailight filler panel. I never really had problems with the old ones, except for the tail-light filler panel set. They started peeling fairly quick; so were gonna sand down the panel, apply the stickers, apply clear, wetsand, clear, wetsand, clear, etc. untill no ridges can be felt. And the same clear, wetsand, clear sequence will be done on the other stickers. So when the car gets back, it'll look similar to what it used to, but better Im definitely not re-installing the door bumper strips, and I may continue the flush look by just applying the "Trans Am" door emblem overlays without the emblems... Seems how I have to wait on the fender, I guess it'll just be more time to think about everything and change my mind over and over again ;D

Clearing over the decals sounds like a good plan. That way you don't have to replace them as often and will hold out as long as the paint does. Hope your fender comes in soon.

My last set started peeling within 6 months I wouldnt even consider getting them again if I couldnt clear over them for protection.

The car was 100% finished on Friday, just in time to bring her home and barracade her into the garage for safety. Hurricane wilma didnt hit us, just grazed by giving us low category 1 strength winds. No Damage Here!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its definitely gonna be at least 3 weeks before I bring my car back for the stripes. Mainly because I need to save more money, but also because I want to get all this suspension stuff installed this week ;D I'll try to post up some pics tomorrow of the car the way it is now.

That's good news, Justin. Can't wait to see the pics. Finally found my clutch problem; the pressure plate is warped. Textralia is sending me out a new PP/billet flywheel assembly and disc. Should get the car back this week, then off to the body shop she goes. Hopefully, I will get it back in time for a car show on the 5th.

All I have for editing photo's is paint I tried shrinking one down to size but couldnt get the file itself down below the 2.4 KB maximum to attach to my post. I just used the stretch/scew feature and dropped it down to a tiny little thumbnail that was still 5.8 KB.
