Hey, i was wondering if any of the experienced Ls-1 owners could recommend a system for my 2004 GTO 5.7. I really have no idea where to find or what type of supercharger or turbo to go with. so if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate it.

There are trade-offs with both. A turbo will make more power than a same sized supercharger because they are driven by exhaust gases rather than a crankshaft driven belt, but the boost will come on much faster with a turbo, rather than the linear, progressive boost of a supercharger. This makes a supercharger a little more street-friendly. I really have no idea what is available in the way of turbos for the GTOs, but both Vortech and ATI make supercharger kits for them. My preference is the ATI Prochargers. They are self-contained, meaning you do not have to punch a hole in the oil pan to supply oil to lubricate the head unit bearings. This also means you will not be lubing those bearings with engine-heated, fuel contaminated oil. The ATI kits come with air-to-air intercoolers vs. air-to-water used by Vortech. The ATI kits will likely have more air tubing to contend with because of this. Some may argue this point, but I believe the Procharger kits make more power. 8-rib setups will have less belt slippage than a 6-rib setup, but it will be more expensive initially. That is enough for starters. Do some more research and if you have more questions, just ask, I will do my best to answer them.

I say Procharger also. But I do know a guy here in Phx who did the STS rear mounted turbo setup on a GTO and was close to breaking into the 10's on it.
