Has anyone heard from him on any of the forums lately? He PMd me a month or two ago on LS1tech, but I have not saw hide nor hair of him in a while.

Like Ray said. He knows 4th Gen LT1s inside and out better than anyone I know. He is on LS1tech & LT1tech some, but he usually keeps a low profile. One of the best tech guys and people I know!

Just earlier this week he was on LT1tech... There was some guy on there attacking him over his advice on installing an opti-spark... Alex's advice (as per usual) was short sweet, and as accurate as necessary. The other guy obviously had something to prove or just plain didnt like Alex.

Yeah, I'd like to give the guy a piece of my mind. Alex has dedicated countless hours to helping people on the GM sites.

Hey guys~
You all need to knock it off -- I don't know anything more about the LT1 than you guys do.
Jeff -- Sorry I haven't kept in touch. How are things? Good I hope? I think it was about this time last year that you guys were getting hit down there with nasty weather. I read that southern Florida got hit by "Katrina," and the storm is still brewing in the gulf. Did any of that reach you?
Yes, Jack, poor guy. He seems to have some good information, and I've seen him make some good posts, but he's been harassing a lot of people lately. I don't know what's gotten into him -- maybe he's just really stressed out. At any rate, I appreciate the support, but please just let the thread go...

Not too bad. I'm trying VERY hard to get this new motor finished. It'll get there. I wish the LT1 F-body blower kits would work in the 1st gen F-bodies. All the fabrication, and custom made parts I need are really putting a dent in the wallet.
Hows your motor coming along?

Do you think we'll get our cars up and running before 2006? :ICK:
Yeah, that's something I didn't even really think about. That must be tricky figuring out where to route everything. Will you be running an intercooler (err... aftercooler) with your Vortech? Besides the piping, do you have any other big hurdles left?
I've been at a standstill with this darn engine block. The eagle h-beams, paired with the massive ARP L19 bolts, are causing major clearance issues with the block. I've hit several waterjackets while clearancing, so I've been debating on how I should fix it. That's my biggest hang-up right now. After this, I just need to get the machine work taken care of, and it can all go back together.
Now I know how frustrated Dr. Frankenstein must have been -- trying to get that dang monster put back together...

The intercooler, and intercooler plumbing will be the easy part. I have a lot of room for the intercooler, and the piping. The intercooler is being custom made, so I'll just have it built to the space I have available. I've got one hell of a fabrication guy that does my aluminum welding. I've decided to have him make my intercooler out of a big 18 wheeler intercooler. I'll take plenty of pics of him building it, and let you guys know what I'm able to get the air temp down to with this "budget" intercooler.
The expense of the custom parts is what's killing me. It takes a long time, and alot of money.
I'm praying that I can get it all done before '06. I might use my old short block untill the new one is done. I just want the d@mn thing on the road again. I'm going nuts without it.

An intercooler from an 18-wheeler? Cool deal. Are those pretty large? I just want the d@mn thing on the road again. I'm going nuts without it. Ditto X 1,000. I'm trying not to get impatient with the build and start cutting corners, but it gets frustrating at times. I think I bit off a little more than I can chew for my 'first-ever' engine build...

An intercooler from an 18-wheeler? Cool deal. Are those pretty large. Pretty big. The core alone on the one I have is 22" high X 35" wide X 3" thick. The core will be modified to be 6" thick X 8" high X 22" wide. The tanks will be on the top and bottom. With these dimensions, it will flow around 1,350 CFM before being restrictive. Raymond

So what is the big project you have going Alex? You know I am getting ready to drop a 396 Stroker in my Camaro. Are you going with a blower motor? Stroker? Both ;D?

396ci? Sweet. Have you already started the build? As for me, I thought I already told you, but I guess I didn't yet. I'm building a low-compression, fully-forged, solid-roller, forced-induction 383ci. Forged Eagle crank, h-beam rods, and JE/SRP -31cc pistson. I have a twin-intercooled ATI D1SC ready to go in. The heads were ported by Lloyd Elliot, and Bret Bauer picked out a huge solid-roller f/i cam. Morel solid-roller lifters. I've converted to low-impedance 65# injectors, using the Acceleronix Versa-Fueler. I also got a wideband oxygen sensor / datalogger, so I hope to be doing my own tuning (Tunercats, Datamaster). Some pics: hometown.aol.com/alex94tagt/buildup2.htmlhometown.aol.com/alex94tagt/buildup.htmlhometown.aol.com/alex94tagt/images/engine%20removal.jpgTaking forever, but I'm getting there.

GOOD LORD MAN! I had no idea! That is SWEEEEET!;D You have got to keep us posted on the progress. No, I have not started the build yet. I had to finish building my garage so I would have a better place to work on my cars. I have the heads (bare castings) already ordered though and they should be in around October. They are AFR 210s. I will be ordering my LT4 intake soon. I will be sending the heads and the intake to Lloyd Elliot for porting and milling. I am also going to get a custom cam from him that is matched to the flow characteristics of the heads. I am saving some cash right now and hope to be ordering my 396 stroker kit in about a month. Only thing I am worried about is that those AFR 210s come with 76 cc combustion chambers. I am not sure how much those heads can be milled down to get a smaller combustion chamber. I want to run at least 11:1 compression and everytime I run the numbers on the stroker kits I have looked at, I am not there. Oh, well! I know I will come up with some solution.

Im not positive, but I think AFR will make the heads with your choice of combustion chambers... A friend of mine just ordered 220's and Im almost positive he's got a 64cc combustion chamber. I'll give him a ring later and find out for sure. I am positive that AFR does alot of custom stuff with their heads to suit the customers needs.

I did not specify with Drew, the guy I ordered from, what size combustion chamber I wanted. If I get the 76 CC heads, can they be milled down to a sutable size. I hope this does not put me in a pickle
