Does anyone have job that would be considered dangerous?
I am an electric motor technition. I work on anything form 30hp up to 10,000 hp. Here is some of the things that could get me killed. 1. Heavy parts falling on you. Some of these motors weigh 5-10 tons I the biggest one that i have worked on weighed 63,000lb. so even the individual parts can weigh several thousand lbs.
2. Electricity-- this scares me the most. Do something stupid & there is no second chance. We deal with up to 4160 volts in the shop. & sometimes more out in the field.
3. H2S gas. We do alot of field work out in the oilfields & this gas can kill you real quick if not carefull, wwe have to have moniters that will alert us if the level of gas in the air gets too high. H2S is the second deadliest gas out there the only one worse if Syaniad (sp? )
So just currious if anyone else has a dangerous type job.

I am an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic at a flourescent lamp factory. It is not as dangerous as your job, but we have lots of movin equipment,gas/oxy fires, flying glass shards, high voltage equipment, SO2 gas (used in worldwar 1 as a weapon, mixes in your lungs with moisture to make sulfuric acid.), and my personal favorite, mercury exposure. (almost lost my kidneys to mercury.)

I used to trade stocks some until the bottom fell out and took my nestegg with it. I still haven't recovered; financially or emotionally. I am dabbling a little in the Forex now; strictly demo, though. Much more volatile, much better leverage, and much greater return on investment.

Unfortunately, it can go against you just as easy so you have to set stops to limit your losses or it will steam roll you in a heartbeat.

i used to do maintenance for martin marietta materials, which is a big quarry operation, when you have front end loaders with 15 cubic yard buckets driving around and 10,000 ton per hour rock crushers you have to use sticks of dynamite to unlodge rocks that are too big and get stuck in the crusher,i've been electocuted trying to weld when it's pouring down raining while in a manbasket attached to a crane over 100 feet in the air,fun job ,

I also took a pretty good hit when the bottom fell out. I have far too much in tech stocks. It still makes me cry in my milk on occasion

I am a lab tech. at a latex paint manufacturer. The only thing dangerous about my job is a vending machine close to my office with contents that could send you to the hospital if you ate anything from it.
