What exactly are you trying to do? What photos are you using?
I'm semi-familiar with the program, but as I told Ray, I'm nowhere near a whiz at it. It depends on what you're wanting to do...

Docspeed was talking to me about this the other day. I think what he is looking to do is to create collages, add text, etc. to pictures that he can put in his signature or in videos for example.

Just do your typical car sig. for a forum. Nothing fancy. I haven't had much time to really sit down and play with it. I can't seem to grasp how to work with layers.
Its adobe photoshop cs version 8.0 if this may help.

Well, the layers are just an organizational tool, and it helps with editing. The layers are automatically arranged from front-to-back. Think 3-D, like staring down at the layers of a cake. You start with the background, and then work your way to the foreground. Whenever you add anything new to the photo -- whether it be a photo/text/paint -- just add a new separate layer to put it on. This way, after you have your finished product, you can still go back and: - delete layers you dont want anymore (like text) - shuffle the layers front-to-back if you decide you want something in the foreground instead of the background. - add changes/effects/filters to one specific layer, without disturbing anything else in the photo. It just makes it easier for editing, instead of putting everything on one individual layer like MS Paint. This gives you more options/freedom around the photo. And that, Sir, is the most useless explanation you'll find on the internet.

Messed around and came up with a little something. I think I am finally grasping how to work with layers and some minor special effects. It took me forever to figure out the DocSpeed at the bottom of the pic along with moving it to the pic with the truck. I know it is simple but I worked hard at doing this little bit.

So what do you guys think? Pretty lame huh? Considering you're just now starting to use the program, I think you did great. Photoshop is a big program, and it is pretty confusing. I've had it for a long time, yet I still have a very basic understanding of how it works. I goofed around with your photo a little. (click to enlarge):

By the way, if you search Google for photoshop tutorials, you'll find a bunch. It might help give you some ideas...

That looks awesome Alex! I love your sig Tommy. Next time I am over at your house, lets see if we can't mess around with that so that we can do one with mine.
