I have a DC to AC convertor so I would like to mount a CHEAP video capability in my car.
I would mount a VCR that will take video in, record it, and I want opinions on cheap systems to provide signals to VCR.
Thanks
PS Cheap is <$75 I would guess

I guess my only concern is what type of camera you can get for that price. You might be able to get something with decent video quality, but sometimes the cheaper cameras don't have many options for outputs (which will cause problems). A lot of cheaper digital cameras only have USB outputs, which only help when connecting to a computer. I have a JVC mini-DV camcorder, which can obviously record on it's own, but it also has additional outputs which would make it simple to do what you are asking. It has an audio/video jack similar to a 1/8" headphone jack, which comes with an RCA adapter cable (yellow, red and white). You could plug this straight into the RCA inputs of a VCR. You also might find a camera with an S-video output. That would work as well -- there are some S-video to RCA converter cables out there. Such as here: www.svideo.com/sv3rca.htmlDunno -- just getting the ball rolling. I've never personally set up a camera in the car, but it sounds like a neat idea!

Well like I said I already have ac available and would like a video sometimes. I don't want a real camera for price also because of weight. Also small camera's will allow viewing video from almost any location.
Such as suspension etc. I know there are many avail ale for surveillance all I want is a unit in some case I will mount on rear bar. Again lite camera is easy to mount a heavy camera requires a lot more mount.

This should be the way you want to go. Mini-Cams are light, easy to mount, and you can transfer all the recordings to a VCR or DVD after your done racing. No need for convertors just use the battery! I don't think you could obtain a quality cam for less than $75 but you should be able to get a good used unit for $150.
