This was posted at another forum, and I guess it's about 5 or 6 years old, so you might have already seen it. If you haven't seen it, give it a read. Pretty creepy story. Set aside an hour or so at night, and read it in the dark -- before you go to bed. ;D www.holyshiite.com/caver/index.html

Man, that sent a shiver down my spine. Since when do pop-up blockers actually work? Your computer is SATAN! (Cut and paste the URL into a new window, Mr. Dioxide. )

Heres something to think about.
We bought this house 2 1/2 years ago. For the first year when I was on the computer or watching tv I would periodicly catch a glimpse of something out of the corner of my eye. Just like a shadow in the hallway or something peeking around the corner, that dissipears as soon as you realize that you are seeing it. Only see it for a fraction of a sec. then it is gone. For that first year I said nothing, to anyone in my family. Just figured that It is my old eyes starting to play tricks on me. Finally after thinking that I was just seeing things, I was talking to my wife one night & I asked her if she still liked the house & she said that she likes it fine except for that we are not alone in this house. I bout fell over. I asked her what she meant by that I she said that she has seen "things" in this house. Up untill this point I never mentioned to her that I had seen stuff also. Turns out she has actually seen a human looking figure walking from one room to another room. My daughters have also seen a figure that looked like a small child, actually one time stopping suddenly because she thought it was her little sister. But her little sister was in bed asleep when this happened.
Heres a quote from an article I found on these "Shadow People "Yup! Shadow people.
"And just what are they??" you ask...
Well no one seems to know for sure, but this type of supernatural being is one of the most commonly reported types of apparitions by people who have the ability to see ghosts in general. Apparently they are some sort of phantasm but their descriptions vary so widely that no two people who have witnessed their presence ever describe exactly the same kind of being.
Shadow People, also known as Shadow Folk, are usually attracted to one person or location for unknown reasons. Often they are seen as dark silhouettes of human-shape, generally male, that prefer to watch someone unseen and flee the moment they are noticed. Still this doesn't always fit the experience. While some people distinctly see a male shape without details, others have described them from shapeless wispy black blobs to swirling columns of dark smoke. Some have odors associated with them while most don't. Their personalities range wildly from shy and skittish to downright nasty, with a few of the living describing them as the ultimate essence of pure evil. One segment of sighters claim shadow people are a type of post human ghost while another camp of folks swear they are strictly elemental. In any case, the only common denominator seems to be is that they are 'dark.'
HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD ANY KIND OF EXPERIENCES LIKE THIS?
In the last year it has calmed down, still catch glimpses every once in a while, seems like since we are aware of them they don't make as much of an effort to be seen.

That's creepy, Russell. I've never experienced anything like that myself, but a lot of it has happened to other members of my family. My aunt lived in a VERY haunted house, where physical things would happen as well as visual. I don't know why, but I'm facinated by that kind of stuff. I love ghost stories, although I'd probably scream like a little girl if it happened to me. I've had televisions & VCRs turn on and off by themselves, but that probably didn't have as much to do with 'shadow people' -- perhaps just a voltage surge or buggy remote control .

Sorry Jeff!!! ;D Yes, page 11 is gone, and there are no subsequent pages. I think they did that on purpose. That was actually a modified version of a short story by Thomas Lera, entitled "Fear of Darkness". The original version isn't anywhere near as creepy. It was too far-fetched to be believable, whereas this 'web log' version was much better. Pictures and everything. I personally like the 'page not found' ending better, so don't be too disappointed.

Thats a relief. Man, talk about a guy being a pussmonger. Like I said, I had to go out to find my phone in my truck. It stays parked outside because the Vette and the Camaro are in the detached garage. I go out there with a loaded 9 MM in my hand. I have this in my hand and I diggin around in the car, I am looking around because I keep hearing noises. All of the sudden, HOOOOOOOOOOOOONK! I accidentally bumped the steering wheel with my ass. I just about $hit myself!!!! I am happy to report I am still alive and did not see any Hodags or Hodogs anywhere!
Thanks for the story Alex! It was awesome!!!!!

Very good story! I guess the lack of an ending to resolve what they find in the cave [glow=red,2,300]means they NEVER RETURNED!!![/glow] ;D ???I NEVER COULD UNDERSTAND WHY ANYONE WANTS TO SQUUEZE THROUGH THOSE CAVE OPENINGS. And that "original version" is so far fetched it is ridiculous!

The shadow people story sounds like my house down to asking the old lady what she thought. Our shadows seem to have calmed down too. Has anyone lived in a house that had a door, or room or something that made your skin crawl or just not "like" it? I have a little trap door into this tiny attic space that I have not looked into in the five years I have owned my house..... and I 'm just fine with that. It just don't feel right.

ON ANOTHER NOTE: my house was built in 1890. It used to be an old farmhouse. I swear sometimes when I am alone I see someone walking in another room. nothing really scary though.

When I was growing up my great aunt lived in one of those classic "haunted looking houses" You know a big two story with a big long staircase leading to the upper floor. That house used to scare the living hell out of me! Every little squeek & creek used to terrify me. There was a bedroom door upstairs that would open by itself, I sure that it was out of adjustment, but it was reall scary to a 5 year old. Hey Jeff - thats pretty funny about you carring your 9mm around to protect you from the supernatural. The first time I slept alone in this house when the wife & kids went out of town I had my bedroom door locked & my 45 auto under the pillow, what for -I don't know just seemed like the thing to do at the time.
Let's hear some of your stories!
