Lets hear your suggestions for next weeks video of the week. If there is no way to make it optional or turn it off, I vote we get rid of it. The link below contains a few posts as to why it just isn't a good idea. 68lt1camaro.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=lounges&action=display&thread=1128936571There are any number of ways our members can listen to music or watch videos that are not as invasive as this new "feature". I don't think we want to alienate any existing or potential new members by hosting something that will dominate their desktop or cause them problems. I usually have several browser windows open all the time and ever since we started this, the window for this site keeps locking up. I have to shut it down and open a new window, just to do it all over again about every half hour, or so. This is happening on both my laptops; dial-up at work, and dsl at home. I don't know if any of the rest of you are having any problems, but now is the time to speak up and voice any concerns you may have.

no problems here, as for the music, I turn the speakers off when I don't want the sound, don't mind doing that.
Tom, it sounds like you're having a bad day, its time for a beer. I agree with the video and sound because I'll eventually get my selections played but at the same time other people should have their turn. Give it some time for trial-n-error see what happens.
As for your windows locking, check to see what program is set to play music and videos automatically, there is a way to set it so that IE plays instead of WMplayer. I use firefox and no problems.
good luck, jc

How many new users are going to want to spend a lot of time on this site if we have something running full time that essentially will not allow them to listen to, or view, their own CDs, DVDs, .mp3s, videos clips, etc., and it mandates them listening to music they may not only dislike but might even find offensive? I should not have to change my default player, and neither should anyone else. We also don't have the right to hog their bandwidth. We are essentially telling people "If you want to spend time on this site, you will have to listen the music we play, or nothing at all, and you can't watch your own videos, if you are on dial-up, your machine will slow to a crawl, and if you don't change your default player, you may have problems with this site window locking up....sorry, but that is just the way it is here. Love it, or leave it." THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA!

Bat Country by Avenged Sevenfold Better cancel that Idea. I just watched the video and it has some parts in it that may be an issue with some members.

I agree that the music can be an issue for some people, especially those that post from work computers. The car vids would be cool, burnouts/racing whatever... As long as they can be turned off or muted by individual users who may have bandwidth problems... Maybe make it an option in the user prefrences to view or not to view the videos.

There you go, not that it matters, but I second the motion for video on/off option in the user preferences.

Sorry guys and gals, but until I can figure out a better way to add music videos, I've decided to eliminate them.
The videos have caused alot of problems, including the lag issues which are unacceptable.
