i ordered a dynomax race magnum to replace my flowmaster 30 series. a while back we were dynoing a ls1 with a cam, lid, longtubes, o/r y pipe, and an 80 series flowmaster catback. it made 352rwhp. we opened the cutout and it made 370rwhp. i was like 'd@mn'. so even tho the 30 series isnt as bad as the crossflow, it cant be good. so out with the flowmaster, in with the muffler i could drop a tennis ball though.
then im gonna upgrade to longtubes. i only expect 10-15rwhp from that. then comes the heads/cam. ;D

Cool man. I just sold a set of Dynomax race mufflers...I guess I should have kept them for myself.

I think all engine perform better on the low end with a little back pressure, I may be wrong though.

I heard LT1's perform better with a little back pressure. Did I hear wrong i think Judson Massingill summed it up best "there is no such thing as too much muffler flow, but there sure is a problem with too little."

That was just what I'd heard, sorry its no problem man. actually, as far as muffler flow goes that saying isnt true. but as far as headers go Judson has said 'too small is better then too big any day.' so its not a completely untrue statement.

that was at peak at 6000rpm. it wasnt that much at normal cruising rpm. it just starts to be restriction above about 3500 if i remember right. next time i go to the shop ill pull the graph off the computer.
