The 5th Annual Camaro/Firebird Reunion took place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We left Atlanta around 5 on the morning of September 15th and headed up to Bowling Green. Only 4 of us from the Atlanta Crew were able to attend this year. Thursday was pretty dead so we took a tour through the National Corvette Museum. There was alot of interesting Corvette/GM history in there. My favorite piece was a 1996 Camaro with an LS1/T56 drivetrain dubbed "Cormaro". Turns out this car was used by GM to do the last bit of road testing for the LS1 before it went into the
Friday more people had arrived and we spent the early morning cleaning up the cars for the car show taking place at 10. The number of cars in the show was a bit disappointing. Maybe the weather had a factor in that because it was overcast everyday we were there. I met Scott Settlemire for the second time. He is absolutely awesome! One of the most down to earth guys I have ever met. FYI, he said to pay attention to what is going on at the 06 Detroit Auto Show in January. Can you say 5th Gen? That night Nick, Nate and I went to Beech Bend Raceway hoping to see some Test n Tune drag racing action. Unfourtunately, test n tune is on Saturdays at that track so we instead watched some Figure 8 and Circle Track racing. After that we went cruising in Bowling Green and meet up with a few of the locals.
Saturday was the Auto X and Drag racing day back at Beech Bend Raceway. There were some really cool, fast cars there that day. The fastest was a blown 95 Z28 Vert running low 11s at 125+mph.
Overall it was a great time. I met a number of great people from around the country and got to see some pretty badda$$F & Y bodies. I plan on going again next year, but this time I will have Metalbeast ready
Enjoy the pics ;D
