Not out of the shop for a week when on the way to work tonight the rear starts making a grinding noise, kinda like a chain slipping on a sprocket under hard acceleration, not at easy take off. In a previous thread I asked about a Rear end kit and everyone seemed to agree it would be a good upgrade. So which size gears to choose. I drive a 100 miles a day and would like to go to the track this summer about 10 times. So keeping the best MPG would be nice, but I also want to get the most out of my mods that I possible can. Sooo, if I go with 3.73 and then upgrade my wheels to 275/40/17 over the stock ones, would this be equivalent to basically running 3.23 or 3.42 on stock rims as far as MPG? The only other mods I'm planning on in the future are: shocks, Trans-Go shift kit and maybe a stall.

first of all is it an A4 or M6? M6=4.10's A4=3.73's. with the 3.73's and the 17's it would be like a 3.51 gearing. with the 4.10's and the 17's it would be like a 3.85 gearing.
equation- original rim size i.e 16" divided by new i.e. 17 multiplied by the gears.
example 16/17 times factory gears just say 3.23's = 3.04
