Here is my delema: I have been noticing smoke coming out the back of my car on hard shifts when i step on it. When smoke would come out and i would notice it, it would be on the highway and i would see it in my rear view mirror so i THOUGHT it was coming out of my tailpipes. Today i had my friend look under the hood while i was IN place in the street (the car was hot, i had been driving it for half an hour) and i revved the engine to 5500 and smoke started shooting out of the oil breather. Now about 3 days ago i saw the oil was low and put some in. I think i may have put TOO MUCH though. Could this be the problem. I'm going to do a change tommorow and see if it acts up still.
Someone suggested it may be an EGR valve. Couldi just been burning MAD oil cuz i put too much??

If oil is blowing out of the oil breather....that is not good. Could be blow by or your pcv system is bad. How many miles are on your car?

haha.......maybe you misunderstood.....OIL is not blowing thru it, just smoke is coming out of the "oil breather"
This "Oil Breather" is a small filter coming out of my valve covers. I'm sure some of the LT1''s have it.

I didnt have oil going through my breather, but I did have alot of smoke. After a compression test I found that cyl #1 was at 30psig and #7 was 45psig, while the rest were at 145-155psig. This to means I seriously broke something other than a head gasket. If your getting smoke, your getting blow-by. That means your rings or head gaskets are leaking out. When you do the oil change, do a compression and/or leakdown test to either eliminate or find your pistons/head gaskets as the problem. When doing the checks write down your cylinder pressures and post up the results. We may be able to give you some insight.

Just so everyone knows I got an oil change today and the smoke is gone. I"m guessing cuz i put to much in it was burning some of it at high heat and speed. Just a guess. Theres no smoke and feels like it has a little more pep!
