Hey everyone im new here and i have a 94z that is getting time for a rebuild its a a4 car and i plan to put 3.73 gears and maybe a posi in it later on down the line but right now im looking into my options on rebuilding the motor. my grandfather's got a shop and a mech that can do the building for me but i want to hear from people that have and know what to get for a lt1 rebuild. i would like around 500hp maybe a little over is it possible ? even if i want to keep it in the 3 grand range in spending money?? i was looking into getting a s-trim charger but i was wondering can i get this kind of hp from just motor and keep it a everyday driving car?? i was checking out elloits le2 package but was wondering what i would need besides a stall and trans rebuild for the more horses, like cam, rockers, pistons, overall a list if posssible. i would really appreciate any info and help also looking into a cam and charger option but whatever is the best route i would like to go that way thanks for any help .....

for $3K you could do a stock rebuild shortblock and freshen teh heads with a good valvejob, springs and fresh valvetrain. if your engine builder knows what he is doing, with a good shortblock, rebuilt stock heads and with the right cam you could make about 350rwhp and run high 11s if the car is setup right. if i only had $3K and had a worn out motor, i wouldnt be spending it on ported heads, badass internals or blowers. id build a solid stock motor with the right cam and a good valvetrain. so to answer your question, your goals are not attainable for the money you have to spend. cam and valvetrain alone will probably be about $1500 if you buy good parts, and i suggest you buy good parts. shoot this guy and email and let him set u up with a cam/valvetrain package. bret@bauer-racing.com
