I have a 96 lt1 engine with 93 ECM, 93 optispark, and 93 wiring harness. This is so it will support a 700r4 transmission. (i got motor ans tranny all in one deal) I also have the 93 timing chain cover, but it will not go on all the way because of the small metal guide that sticks out of the cam timing gear sprocket(this is for the larger 96 timing cover and newer opti spark).
My question is can I use the 93 computer and wiring harness and switch to a vented 96 opti spark (and change to a 96 timing chain cover) and have it all work? Or should I remove the opti spark guide from the cam sprocket and stay with the 93 opti?
