i have been looking up parts for my 93 z28 to start building it up...and alot of parts say "94-97" or to whatever year....but start at 94. 93 was the first year for 4 gens...so whats the difference between the 93z and the 94?

One major thing is on the auto transmission. The 93 had the 4L60 (700r4) and the 94+ had the 4L60E(electronic). This will make a difference on the Trottle body linkage if trying to order a throttle body. Also the 93's do not have a Mass Air Flow sensor so the CAI kit will be different for a 93 to a 94+ . Another difference is the PCM. 93's are speed density and require chips that plug into the PCM. 94 PCM's are flashable and can be reprogrammed with a programmer or tuning softwares. Just to name a few....

Other differences include the intake manifold and fuel rail design, a whole bunch of interior and cosmetic differences, and possibly exhaust. But I think a 93's exhaust system is the same as the 94 & 95's. In 96-97 the exhaust manifold/y-pipe design is different because GM switched to 2 catalytic converters instead of one.
