So which engine do you like better? The LS1 or the LT1? Why? We need something to complain about, and this one always seems to get everyone angry at each other. Let the drama begin! ;D

Let the drama begin! ;D LS1, no 2 ways about it. 1) 15 degree heads = way better head flow 2) All aluminum = lighter front end = better handling 3) Better computer = better tuning = better performance throughout the power band 4) Single blade throttle body = better air flow 5) Longer stroke = more torque 6) Longer rods = increase dwell time at TDC = more efficient combustion = more power, cleaner burn 7) Composite intake = very low heat soak = cooler IATs 8) Coil on plug spark scheme = NO OPTI = more reliable That's all I can think of off the top of my head and it's enough for starters.

I don't know much about LS1s, but I do know that they are superior motors to LT1s, hands down. Not to say that an LT1 can't take an LS1, but mod for mod, an LS1 is superior.
That being said, I still like my LT1. and I catch alot of $hit for it. I always am getting told the I drive a "woobie" (car with a out of date motor), but its fun to be the underdog. Its really fun to be the underdog when you outrun the favorite as well, nothing beats that.
When I look back on it, I'm pretty sure that I would have bought an LS1 if I would have had the money, but that's not the case. I don't know much about them, so for now I'll stick to my "woobie". One of my friends just bought a 2000 Z28 last week, so maybe I'll learn alot about the LS1 with his car. ;D I guess that's all I have to say about it.

LT1 all the way ;D LT1's.... Are cheaper to mod Have a stronger block Have better low end torque= more fun to drive Besides they sound better and the cars they came in look better So piss on you and your superior motor Tom ;D hee hee

My TA whips up on ALL the local LS1 cars!! (when its not broken of course :

Are cheaper to mod Have a stronger block Have better low end torque= more fun to drive Besides they sound better and the cars they came in look better So piss on you and your superior motor Tom ;D hee hee Well, looks like the Turtle is coming out of his shell. ;D LS1s are getting cheaper to mod as more vendors enter the market and offer competitive prices. Still not as cheap as LT1s, but you will get more bang for those extra bucks. Yes, an iron block is stronger, but the aluminum LS1s will take pretty much anything most people want to throw at them. If you want a full on machine, the iron truck blocks are plentiful and inexpensive. Better low end torque? Show me your dyno sheet and I will show you mine (stock). Hee hee. More fun to drive.......the fun factor is relative, but I dare say that if you were to upgrade to an LS1, it would be 3 months before you could quit grinning every time you punch it. ;D I do have to agree, the LT1s sound better. The LS1s seem to have a raspy resonant frequency that is hard to get rid of if you have removed the cats, but I find that trade-off to be well worth the extra power. Better looking? ? Maybe the Camaros and lesser birds; some don't like the later headlights of those, but the T/A WS6 LS1s are plainly the baddest looking F-body to ever hit the pavement. Just ask momacoz's girls what they think. Pure sex appeal. Especially when lowered a bit. Very aggressive.

Can you tell Alex has been driving his Chevrolegs? Tom, did you ever run your car with the stock motor and blower? If so, I have a dyno graph to compare with ya!

d@mn, so we cant compare dyno charts... It'd be cool to see a comparison of two cars, one LT1 and one LS1, with identical mods. Well as identical as you can get anyway. Just to see how they really stack up mod for mod, and whos got better low end torque.

I've owned both. The one thing I did notice; The LT1 had more torque from the start. But the LS1 would make more mid to high end strength. (This being both of them stock). Hard choice for me here. I like them both ;D
