Hi everyone. I have owned a 95 Trans Am in the UK for over a year now, and have had no problems with the AC until now. The air comng through the vents is not being chilled at all. I assumed it was needing a recharge and ordered a DIY kit online. I followed the instructions which say the compressor needs to be running for the recharge to work. I can't get it to run. I tried putting a wire across the sensor near the recharge conector (the only sensor I could find), but all that did was run the engine fans. I checked the relays and the fuses and they seem fine. The DIY kit is not emptying into the system. Am I missing something? I'm not sure which bit of the AC system is which - I can see a thick pipe (with the connector on) and a thin pipe running between a metal block under the windshield and a bottle-shaped device. Another thin pipe comes out of the Bottle and goes to the radiator. A large pipe comes out of the bottle and goes under the engine block somewhere. Help please...

well most A/C systems wont run when out of freon, and if it isnt working then most likely you have a leak. you need to find the leak first. this means, most likelly is taking it to a shop that has the equipment to find the leak.
now some times you can disable the out of freon switch, but i dont know where it is.

The switch for bypassing the low refrigerant should be on the accumulator or it's line which is the low side and also the side your recharge kit should be hooked up to.
