Just dropping a line or two to let you guys know what Ive been up to and where she stands now.
As some of you know but most do not. After installing my new 383 from Port Pros, I quickly realized that to see the full potential of this car, and keep myself out of jail, I needed to do a full on drag transformation. So the car got parked and tore down to a bare shell.
Fist on the list was to get a solid rear end in the car, so I enlisted the expertise of Scott at Driveline Solutions. He built me a 9" assembly consisting of a Moser Housing with back brace and 35spline axles, Strange Pro Nodular center section, and a Strange spool with 3.70 gears.
Next on the list was to rid myself of the fickle T56 transmission that I had installed for my previous 'street car' build up. I removed and sold that, then had Fernando at Transmission Physicians build me a TH400 complete with trans brake and a Vigilante 4000 stall converter.
3rd step was to install my Stenod Roll Bars, which I proudly did myself. I ordered a weld-in, jig notched, mild steel setup so I could weld it myself and save $$$
Once I brought the car home from my buddy's garage where the trans swap and roll-bar install was done, I went to work wrapping up everything I could before bringing the car to the paint shop.
I had relocated my ignition stuff from under the hood to the glove box, re-wired the fuel pumps (and it works, until the second pump is supposed to turn on ), wire the trans brake and 2step box, re-wire the line lock, install/wire-in the Acceleronics Versa-Fueler box, remove A/C & P.S., fab a/c delete panel, fab new exhaust, and swap in some 75lb/hr injectors.
Once ALL that was done, I quickly threw a milk crate in place of the seats and went for a ride around the block at 3:00 am ;D . The next morning it went to the paint shop
I just went and picked the car up from the paint shop where they painted my Stenod Performance 6pt Roll Cage bright metallic silver...
After work I'll be bringing it home to give it a good bath, then sort out my fuel pump wiring issue (think thats just a ground for the relay)...
Once the paints cured for a few days I'll begin carefully installing my Ozite carpet and interior pieces.
Somewhere in that time I should have my custom Ultra-Grip Pulley from Reichard Racing and I'll install that too.
Ive still gotta get a few items to be race ready but she's real close. I still need a pair of racing seats, and I'll have to make mounts and bracing for them. I also need to get a new cable for my LT1edit, a wide-band A/F gauge/recorder, and a headliner(well the headliner isn't gonna stop me from going racing but...).
Once Ive got the majority of the interior in place, the 2nd fuel pump working properly, and the custom pulley installed, we will be putting her on the dyno for some tuning.
Then it's off to the track!
Within the next week or two I'll be updating this thread with pics and hopefully a video or two. Just gotta get my normal PC working again so I can use my digital camera and camcorder. The PC I'm on now is garbage
