Looking to regasket my entire engine real soon if the compression checks out good. I thought I would go ahead and install a new cam, intake and set of vortec heads while I am at it for some serious power gain over what I currently have.
A set of OEM vortec heads have a lift limit of .480 and the XE262 cam that I want to install has a lift of .462 on the intake and .470 on the exhaust. Even though these lifts are within the tolerance for the spring, it makes me wonder if they are too close to the max lift. Do you guys think that I would be OK or should I spend another $150 plus bucks on a set of springs? I am trying to get away with spending as least amount of money as possible.

are you going to rev the crap outta it? if you keep it to about 4500-5000 they should be fine. because if you go too high on the springs you can start to pull out the pressed in rocker studs.

it isnt going to be just a spring issue i have a set of vortec heads that i have on my 71 camaro and i had to have the guides machined down because the retainer will hit your valve guide with to much lift
