Well, since this site is pretty new, i thought id start a conversation about the best, yet somewhat mild setup for an LT1 would be.....
Would a direct port kit be too much for a stock bottom end withna H/C?
Would the wet shout be the best entry level setup for an LT1?
Whats the "safest" jet to run..... is a 100 shot too much, whats it take to run a 150 shot.... these are wet shots of course.... I am not very interested in a dry shot....
thanks

Thats what i ran on my LT1 and it is what alot of people i know run it is a awsome kit. You can run a 100 shot and have it be safe but if you step up to a 150 i would recmond that you get a fuel presure safty switch ( should have opne anyway ) and a adj fuel pressure regulator and a bigger fuel pump. I also think a D Port is not a good idea ona stock bottom end.

I was definitely looking into the single nozzle system, and while i was shopping i saw the maf ends kit, did not read much, but how does that add up? I imagine that direct port is mainly for a serious setup with a controller and is used mainly for running HUGE shots consistently, but i am not a nitrous expert.....yet haha

lol yeah d port is for serious n20 users the nx express kit is one of the best kits on the arket right now and there jets are rated atthe wheels so 100 shot is 100 to the rear wheels ;D and alot of other kits are rated at the crank unless you use a TNT kit like my friend had he put a 100 shot and it put 141 at the wheels

I'm running a 150 shot on my car right now. Fuel pump and fuel pressure safety switch are both a must. I know my safety switch was working because at higher RPM's when I was running a 100 shot the NX kit was cutting out on me. Come to find out, my fuel pump was going out and it could not keep up with the kit. I put in a Walbro 340 and it runs flawlessly with the 150 shot.

I would love to run a 100-150 shot, especially if the only fuel system mods needed are a fuel pump and pressure reg.
Ill prolly end up with the NX kit, but since some asshat just busted one of my window, i get to replace and re-tint them, YAY...this also comes after a rear end overhaul(diff, gears and cover)

I direct port kit would not be too much if jetted correctly, in fact it will be safer. Depending on the kit, a direct port can be jetted down to a 100 shot and maybe lower (you reach a point where the mixture won't atomize and it will begin to puddle, that's bad). With a direct port, the distribution of fuel and nitrous will be more precise and provide more even cylinder pressures. It's just that they are more expensive and complicated.

I think that once i am outta debt, i am gonna get my suspension tightened up and then start off with the nx kit and maybe later step up to a direct port kit, i have seen direct port kits that build onto a wet/dry kit... prolly before i do the direct port ill rework my heads and cam and prolly tear into the engine and build that up to... so its gonna be a long long project thats not gonna be done any time soon.....lol i hate being realistic....

i would also run an rpm activated window switch just to be safe.

Yeah, i wouldnt run a setup without an RPM window switch. I have a 150 shot on my GTA, and a 150 shot on my T56 97 Z. The kit on the TA is a holley NOS wet plate kit. The one on the Z28 is a NX wet kit. Both with window switches, bottle wormers and both with full throtle activation switches(i dont like buttons you have to push). No problems with either of them... The LT1 is stock with a spec 3 clutch and steel flywheel... and the 89' GTA has a 383 with forged internals and a built 700R4... P.S. If your car is an automatic, id try to get a stall converter with an anti-blowm-plate. The stall in the GTA self-destructed twice before i figured out what was going on...

I'll give a second thumbs up for remote switch activation. I had a button on the steering wheel for one trip to the track and that was engouhg of that. It was hard enough trying steer, grab gears and keep it off the wall without having to worry about holding down the button which for most of that night I did't doa very good job of.
