Well, my clutch SUCKSa$$and i was wondering what is everyones favorite clutch... i am looking only for performance, i dont care if it is quiet... I need good pedal feel, fast engagement and good holding force...
Sidenote: anyone run a lightweight flywheel, if so, how do you like it?

i had the Cartek clutch on my '01 Z28. stock one in my '98 Z28 i got the Ram stock replcament in my Caprice, and finally i got a Hayes in my '79 Z28.
the Cartek chatered a little. but held great. the stock one im told is still in the '98. the ram is working beautifully on the 4200 lb Caprice, and the Hayes so far is my favorite.

We put a Z06 clutch(stock late model f-bod clutch) in my friends 98 TA and that thing bites pretty good, did not have a problem with wheel hop before the install, now it is really bad...lol hopefully ill get a ram or something soon with a lighter flywheel, gotta love road racing...

I'm currently running a Spec stg3 and a spec billet steel flywheel. According to a tech at spec, lightweight flywheels are not recommended unless you are making 400+ rwhp and at least 3.73 gears to help keep the rpms up... I like my heavy steel flywheel, the clutch chatters a bit, but it grabs sooo hard! I havent noticed any slip at all; and the stored energy from the heavier flywheel sure does hit the tires hard when you grab the next gear.

Oh yeah, we just installed a Mcleod twin disc in a friends camaro, thats a VERY nice setup, so nice in fact that I will be purchasing one for my next motor. I almost bought one recently but the price tag pushed me to the Spec setup. To me, its hard to justify buying the most expensive clutch on the market for my stock (S.C. only) motor. But when I finally build my blower motor, the mcleod will be purchased for the power handling and high quality that my setup will deserve

I am running the stock clutch in my Z28 right now. Plan on upgrading to a SPEC III for the project though.

Everyone claims that the McLeod twin-disc is one of the best you can buy. But, for the pricetag, it should be.
I ran the complete SLP setup (lightweight billet flywheel & pressure plate + disc), and it was very smooth. The car noticeably "revved" quicker with the lightweight components. I'd consider it a good stock-replacement clutch, but only for less than 350hp. It started to slip on me a little.
Next, I've got a Spec Stage 4 ready to go in. It looks far more heavy-duty, and I expect it to be far more harsh on the street...

Good reading here, looking for a good clutch setup for my new engine setup. For almost 1400 figured the McCleod was the route to go with everything it comes with, then looking at the Spec3 sounds good. Have heard there are issues with both, still somewhat at a loss of which way to go. I'm planning on getting the M6 rebuilt by Joe @t56 Rebuilds, the $1400 pkg looks nice. Still undecided on which flywheel, steel or alum. Not sure which is best really for a high rwhp setup, open for suggestions.

Just don't make 14 or 15 passes in an hour and 20 minutes and you should not have any problems.

Does that mean you found out the hard way Tom? Yeah. I got the clutch so hot it boiled the hydraulic fluid, ruined the seals in the McLeod master cylinder, and warped the pressure plate. Got it all replaced under warranty, but paid an extra $300 or $400 for a new billet flywheel since they are balanced together. Amazingly, the disc was still good. It was still not completely broken in. I am still using it now and I have the other one that came with the pressure plate and flywheel as a spare.
