Does he want a blower or a turbo?
I'm partial to Vortech when it comes to superchargers, but ProCharger is also a good blower. I can't help you with the STS turbo. I've never run an STS setup on my personal vehicle, so it wouldn't be fair for me to comment on them.
Whether he goes with a turbo or a blower, an intercooler is d@mn near an absolute must with pump gas, especially with stock compression. He needs to factor in the cost of an intercooler, and all of the additional plumbing, and parts. Not only will this make the addition of forced induction safer for the motor, it will also help out with power production.
Don't get greedy with boost unless you build that motor for it.

Thanks ive had good luck with them and i havent heard if they solved the leakage issues on the self contained units. i havent had any experience with the self contained, just what i heard. Hmmm....I had not heard of any of them leaking, but I had not looked for it, either. My main reasons for going with the self-contained is that if it isn't self-contained and using its own specialized oil, then it uses engine oil which is very hot and becomes dirty and contaminated from ring blowby. My stock engine oil always smelled like gasoline when I changed it. I know that my new engine is getting even more blowby under boost than the stock motor. Just don't want all that junk in my supercharger, and the added heat from the engine oil translates into higher IATs which are undesireable as well.

And Im running a self-contained Procharger myself.. I bought it used and have had no problems so far. I thought at one point it was leaking because of a loss of oil, but it turned out to be a bad drain plug seal allowing it to slowly seep out.

Ive never personally ran or even worked with an STS kit before, but I was not impressed by the owners own car at all. I really dont like the idea of having that turbo out back where it will be exposed to all the elements and theifs either. For packagability and reliability, by vote goes out to a Self contained Procharger... No matter what, you dont want to exceed 9 intercooled psi on a stock motor. And you dont want to risk the life of your motor to a band-aid FMU either, get injectors and get it tuned.
