Well, I've sold my Lloyd Elliot heads and intake. I know, I know, I'm a traitor........whatever. I still own two LT1's so calm down! ;D Let me explain. The Camaro hasn't run in a year and I just can't take it anymore! I want it back on the road as quickly as possible, but I won't drive it if it's not making a decent amount of power. The second LT1 I was building wound up being a big headache. It needs way too many custom made parts. This translates to alot of work, alot of trial and error, alot of money, and the worst part, alot of down time. I've decided to sale the majority of the LT1 stuff so that I can throw together a budget 496 nitrous big block for now. I already have DFI with a DFI dual sync distributor, so that's covered. I could go on for days , but the point was, here are the heads I just purchased. Nothing to fancy. Pro Thunder 320cc heads. Bare castings. These will be great for a 496 cubic inch street motor. Don't worry, they'll get plenty of port work, and this motor will get PLENTY of nitrous.

Any idea what cam you are going to use, compression ratio, etc. yet? Man, I can't wait until you get this monster going.

The valves are 2.25" intake, 1.88" exhaust. The manufacturers advertised flow numbers are:
LIFT___INTAKE___EXHAUST
.100____74_______62 .200___166______118 .300___245______160 .400___308______195 .500___339______229 .600___360______248 .700___374______265
I think these numbers are pretty inflated. I bet they max out at around 350cfm on the intake side as cast. We'll see.
As far as a cam for now, I'm going to use a cheap Summit Racing street/strip hydraulic flat tappet cam just to hurry up and get the car running again.
I'll have to save up for some good valve train parts. I can't give you any specs as of yet, but it WILL eventually get a Comp solid roller. What will determine how mild or wild I go will depend on how I like it with the small hydraulic cam.
I want it to run on pump gas, so I'll have to leave the static compression in the 10 to 1 range. It will have two fuel systems. One for the motor, and one for the nitrous set up. Race gas with the nitrous will be a must. I plan on running no less than two 150 shot stages.

Ray, are you going carb or EFI? There is a guy on LS1tech selling a 1000 cfm BBC Accel/FAST EFI setup. ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=459219I realize you don't need to the FAST stuff, but thought you might be interested in the hardware.

I think he's trying to sell it as a package for $2800. I don't think that's the Accel throttle body either. It looks like an Accufab. The Accufab's are great units, and you can find them new for around $430.

Very nice! I think once you get a good taste of BBC you might throw rocks at those little motors. Be sure to get a good cam though. BBCs need lift to breathe. I'd at least go with a solid flat tappet cam. Even then you're giving up a lot to the new cars. They all have roller cams. The difference between a solid flat tappet cam and a solid roller cam can easily be 75hp or more. A hydraulic flat tappet cam just doesn't cut it these days when everyone else is running a roller from the factory.

Very nice! I think once you get a good taste of BBC you might throw rocks at those little motors. I owned a big block Chevelle about 10 years ago so I known what you mean. Believe me, I've always wanted another big block, but haven't been in the position to get one. Shortly after I got rid of the Chevelle, a buddy of mine picked up an '81 Camaro with a solid flat tappet 396. It had a super Victor intake with a Dominator. We would shift that car at 8,000. That car was fun! It was bought to be a daily driver, but that didn't work out. The driveability was absolutely unacceptable. Agreed. Big block's are dogs without a solid cam. The valves are way to heavy for a hydraulic lifter to handle at higher RPM. It will have a solid roller. No doubt.

I finally found the real flow numbers for these heads:
.100"-66/29 .200"-160/97 .300"-226/152 .400"-274/181 .500"-302/216 .600"-318/249 .700"-333/268 .750"-342/276 .800"- 348/283
And once again, the bogus advertised numbers:
.100____74_______62 .200___166______118 .300___245______160 .400___308______195 .500___339______229 .600___360______248 .700___374______265
