Thier is a diff cover avaliable that pretensions the bearing caps for less gear deflection? How effective is this, and if effective, when dose it become a necessity? How much stronger dose it make the new gear set. The only gear failure I have seen hasn't been catastrophic, in fact the cars both drove in, and the failure was with the factory gear sets. In both cases the teeth were chipped, causing a noise and vibration. I can't see this being caused by gear deflection, but.... I only ask now in consideration of changing my own gear set, is this cheep insurance, or good marketing? I dont see any %ages advertized next to these products.

on a stock 7.5" 10 bolt it really isnt worth it. but you start geting to a built 12 bolt or a 8.5 10 bolt it is worth it. it really is part of a whole package. it is like not putting on stud girdles or shaft rockers on a built engine that will run up to 7000 rpm.
it helps keep thing in place.

lots of people seem to put on aftermarket covers on their 7.5 rear---I thought about it and figured it was a waste of time and money--I don't abuse my 7.5 much and will be upgrading to a 12 bolt or 9" sometime in the future...the covers probably help a bit but I think they also give you a false sense of security....Moser seems to be the way to go according to other people on other boards...... ? any responses or advice is welcomed at all times..DOUG::::

oh the other thing if you arent going to get one pre built from the companie, talk to the shop that will be building it, and see what they suggest. some shops are used to one type of components and there might be some noise in the rear or slop if you get diffrent ones.

I have a Eaton Limited-slip third with a TA cover in my 7.5 stock rear. Did this for added insurance. Pluss it looks good too.
