beer is a tool of Satan used to lure his prey into renouncing their lord and savior Jesus Christ.

You guys are funny as hell.
Actually, I have a 12 bolt. Last year the car made 613 at the wheels and made a low pass of 10.47 @ 133 mph throught the 6 speed. We made over 100 passes and the rear was fine when checked recently. The secret is a proper setup and, I believe, a solid pinion spcaer. I went with a 12 because it is a little lighter and takes less power to turn. That being said, the posi unit is on the ragged edge seeing 600. I don't think it's gonna hold when it sees 950. Good thing they make a detroit true tack for it now.

spools really have a "thing" against turning. any street time at all and you wont like them, unless you have a hook up on tires and just drift around corners.

making the brakes work on the 9" moser's is a real pain in the ass. none of the 9" rearends i have come across are available for use with either style of ABS (3 or 4 channel) or a little machineing and they fit. and if you go c-clip eliminators on a 12 bolt you have to do the same.

and as for wanting to stay gm... you answered yourself... most people dont by FORD 9"s they buy moser or strange... its just a ford design... i have heard this from SEVERAL people... then watched them go dead silent when i asked why they were running SVO 30# injectors... lol... trust me... no gm guys are gonna mistake your car for a mustake i mean mustang , just because you have a 9" rear... and you aint gonna get invited to join a mustang car club either... if you want to run a GM rear... then send a letter to gm requesting they build a 9" equivilent that you can afford... exactly my point

Well for starters, the car still sees some road course action with my dad so that rules out the spool. When he's tired of doing that we're gonna put a spool in it.
If I remember correctly the cost was around $2400. It's a standard Moser unit with 33 spline axles and tapered road race bearings. I had a buddy come over and do the solid pinion spacer and different gears. the spacer install was less than $50.
