A friend has it in a 78 Trans Am. Runs good did a 7.9 1/8 runs good idles ~850 I think it is. He has iron heads with 2.02/1.6 roller rockers headers, and a large stall
I think his effective stall is about 2600 or so. The setup does not have much bottom end but pulls hard to ~6500
I have a small cam for a daily driver. 214/218 pulls hard to about 5800 and has almost smae as stock torque on bottom end.
Daily driver you want bottom end torque. I had my cam reground for $100 if I ha it to do over I would have 214/226 .470/.475 112 LSA 2 degree advanced. This would avoid roller rockers and save!
That would give you great bottom end and pull hard to ~6000

I dont know about on a stock bore but in the 383 it is prety mild. I get 17MPG city and 25 HWY and zero cam surge. From what I have seen on a stock bottome end it is decent as long as you get the tune correct
