I have been scouring all the total exhaust set ups and this is what I have come up with for a reasonable price and something different. I will use the SLP shorties 1 3/4 with their Y pipe and generic high flow cat....then I will use the 3" SLP stainless intermediate pipe, Spintech 3" in dual 3" out muffler with polished 3" T304 stainless tails with 45 deg. slash cut. The reason that I have come to this set up was that I dont want to pay 650 bucks for the Mufflex kit , I dont want 3" to 2.5" tails ...because inside the muffler the flow of exhaust gases are funneled .5", and I wanted something that was completely 3" and also want the stainless steel. The random technology catback for alum. steel is $379....and mine will be close or cheaper with the stainless that I will be using . I believe that a complete 3" exhaust will outflow and better perform over a 3" to 2.5" tails like what I have now.I think that the extra .5" in the muffler and tails will help upstairs when you have the crowded gas affect....also stainless lasts forever and its lighter in weight. Anybody else put together there own exhaust??

I have a 94 Z28 w/396 stroker. It has Hooker Super Comp headers dumping from 3" collectors to a single 4" Stainless Steel exhaust pipe that runs to a 4" flowmaster. I'm told that it flows more than true 3" duals, but I haven't done the math. I can tell you that coupled with a big cam, it's a street machine that has people of all ages driving up next to me saying "sounds good". I wouldn't consider trading it for duals.

I ran pacesetter long tubes into lanes true duals, it sounds great, but it is pretty looud in and out of the car, i am planning on extending the pipes over the axles to try and tone it down a bit.... i also noticed some pretty nice gains from getting rid of the stock crap

i had to pass emmissions, so i went w/ some used 96-97 style slp headers, a random tech dual cat y pipe and a flowmaster single out catback. w/ that, a slp cai and pcm4less tuning it made 275rwhp. i probably coulda made more w/ longtubes, but im pretty happy w/ it. and my headers are stainless.
