Be VERY careful when shopping on E-bay! I know plenty of people who have been scammed, including myself. I wouldn't recommend buying a cam from E-bay anyway. It could be damaged, rusty, the wrong cam, etc. For a little extra, you can buy a brand new cam, and know exactly what your getting.

I have had GREAT success with Deltacams deltacam.com/They charge $75 plus shipping so roughly $100. I have had 4 cams ground by them. 2 306 cams, one 214/218, and most recent 224/232 .508"/.524" 2.5 degree advance 112 LSA I sent in old LT1 cams Impala Camaro will be fine. Their work is outstanding.

In reference to using a 503 cam or any cam >.500 lift
The stock rockers will handle ~.480" lift. Some say more most say less, so rockers won't hold IMO.
Second the 503 has .510" on exhaust lift so stock springs will not work. I bought a set for ~$40 from Competition Products dropped right on Aluminum heads. The springs are good for I think it is .560".
Iron heads I THINK need to have some machining. I am not certain since I have a set and machined them already so can't verify if they drop on iron heads.
I changed the springs by applying compressed air into cylinder and using a ~$6 tool from O Reilly's to remove them.
Now the rest internals should be fine. No piston clearance prolems etc. My cam is essentially that with alittle more lift. I lightly ported the Aluminum heads so felt I could MAYBE use alittle more lift.
I have it in a hybrid and hope to get to track in a couple weeks.

We are ALL cheap.
To do cam the intake is off, but head is normally left on. You could remove the heads and get head work done. I would recommend mild porting ie pocket porting and gasket matching.
It won't make a ig difference but COULD be cost effective while engine is apart.
I would change timing chain when you do cam. IMO stock is fine since you aren't going to use large springs or cam on street, if track motor then MAYE worth expensive replacement.
