Question on electric water pumps.

My main question is how reliable are these units when compared to their mechanical counter parts? One of the things that has scared me away from electric water pumps is the fact I hear of them going out so much and unlike the mechanical ones their is no warning. When it dies your just screwed plain and simple, their is no early warning weep hole. I had to change my water pump recently so I still have an old core just sitting around, so I was thinking of about using the old core as the housing for an electric pump. Is the switch worth it or am I better off just running with my cam driven pump for the time being? Also which pump do you consider the best, personally I don't see why our cars need a flow rate up to 55 GPM.

I haven't started using my CSR pump yet, so I don't have any actuall experience with them, but I've heard that they typically last for about 2 years.

I have the Meziere on my car... First off there is an "early warning weep hole" top and bottom... Ther're supposed to last quite a while, but as with any aftermarket part theirs always that one or two that fail early...
I had a seal go bad in mine about 9months after I installed it... The Meziere tech said that with my car sitting for extended periods of time (about 3 weeks at a time, every time ive broken something on the car) it caused the seal leak... They had no problem with replacing the seals and getting it right back to me... Within a week!

I have my CSI wired like the following:

Which gives me a bad ground indicator and a separate LED if the pump fails.

The electrical pump will in no way live as long as a stock mechanical but if and when you go to a double roller, you need to make the switch.

I bought mine used and have had it on for over a year with no problems. I am going to start carrying a new pump with a few tools in the back though so if it does go out, I can swap it out on the roadside if need be.

I have used a meizere for about 4 years now with no problems. I highly recommend it! My car actually stays cooler than with the stock pump.

because of the higher flow rate it actually makes a difference.
