My TA is still stock. Im looking at CAI and exhaust. I like the SLP CAI. Is this one pretty good? Is the flowmaster cat back a good setup? Any advice?

all teh cai are basicly the same. cept the SLP is metal and can retain heat. id get a k&n or moroso. flowmasters are the probalby the least flowing mufflers out. but power wise its only like 2-5hp from the others. so basicly its a sound choice.

I like the moroso CAI. What do you recommend besides flowmaster?

I have both the SLP CAI and Loudmouth system. From straight flow numbers the SLP out performs the others out there (taken from a moderator post on ls1.com) and from personal experience I absolutely LOVE mine. as far as cat-backs go many brands are comperable and its basically $$$ and personal preferences. Borla's are expensive and sound great, GMMG's are great as well, as far as the loudmouth the name says it all. My '96 TA with Pacesetter LTs ORY and LM sounds like rolling armageddon you WILL set off car alarms, you WILL scare/shock people by drving by, but for my 2 cents American V8s should sound like the second coming of the apocalypse, and yours will too.

A possible alternative is to buy mandrel bent 3.5" pipe from O Reilly's and build your own. I have a hybrod so I had no choice.
I used a Votech's 90 degree 'snorkle', then bought one foot of 3.5" rubber hose, bought a long and a short 90 degree 3.5" madrel pipe, and topped it off with an air cleaner in front of my radiator.
Cost is NOT cheap snorkle ~80, each bend was ~$40 and hose was I think $15. So I paid ~$200 with air cleaner as I recall. Works great my intake air on Datamaster shows close to ambient.

In my opinion the loudmouth catback/Pacesetter longtubes w/ORY is not too loud... Just too crackly. I had that setup and it sounded more like an old Ford redneck truck with straight pipes than anything else... I ended up buying a Mufflex 4" cat-back w/ a spintech race muffler. This setup is just as loud, but smooth sounding without the obnoxious crackle. It also sounds alot deeper than the loudmouth ever did. I like the loudmouth, and i think it sounded awesome when I still had cats. The dynomouth, and borlamouth are just the SLP loudmouth with either a dyno-max or borla race muffler installed in place of the resonator it came with. They do a decent job of getting rid of the crackle and deepening the tone... I have the Loudmouth sitting in my shed waiting for a new owner. If your interested make an offer.

I will try to get someone to tape. As you can see from Apr 2004 seldom will anyone tape and usually not the best video. I started to tear down tranny today. Mine seemed to be shifting lite. I actually tore a friends apart so I can rebuild his and swap mine all in one day.
That is the plan. I will run new tranny no juice in 2 weeks, then juice after I get motor tranny working well again.
Yes 2600 pounds is pretty nice my other I'm hoping will be lighter. It is a gutted 76 will have 350 Supercharged LT1 minimum frills so hoping it comes in at <2450 but never know until it is done.
I hope the CV's hold with ~150 NOS then think I will use same on 280, else long delay to tub and use 9"
PS I'm hoping for <7.10 in 1/8 want 6.99 but took me forever to get 7.5 in the video above.

Stay away from the Flowmaster exhaust. They sound great on Mustangs, but sound like a truck on LT1s.

You said it perfectly buddy. K&N CAI kicksa$$and in my opinion if your going to put a K&N filter on the end, why not get the whole kit. Im not a big fan of flowmaster. Its all about sound with them and their mufflers are one of the most restrictive mufflers on the market. If you have the cash to drop go Borla and I have also good things about GMMG but i have never seen one in real life so i cant comment on that. If not, you cant go wrong with SLP Loudmouth. I have a Borla and it sounds mean without being too anoying.

Ofcourse you could always go with a True Dual setup. Its not much more expensive than a catback setup.
